The Real Cost of Owning and Running a Supercar

The world’s most likable automotive vlogger, Tim Burton. Or Shmee150, as he is better know, gives an insight into what it’s really like to live with a supercar, and just how much it costs to run, maintain and look after these exquisite pieces of machinery.

Now that we’ve had time to kerb our jealousy envy. What’s it really like to live with these beautiful machines every day?
Tim (Shmee) was keen to highlight some of the costs associated with supercar ownership, some of which you may not normally factor into your purchasing decision. With bespoke, highly tuned machines, comes bespoke, highly inflated prices for parts and maintenance. One way to make these costs more predictable is through warranties, this one time cost will then cover you for any unforeseen issues for the cover period, eliminating any nasty surprises. Recently Tim took his McLaren 675LT Spider for a warranty extension, and for the princely sum of £7,800 walked out with 2 years of cover. Bargain.

“The price to renew from three years to five years was £7,800, so basically just under £4,000 a year. Remember it’s already £3,000 for insurance, £3,000 for storage, £500 for road tax, and £1,500 for the service. That’s £8k off the top of my head,”
