However impressive Dubai’s police fleet is, there are a few other notable fast police cars around the world. In this article we’ll take a look at some of the fastest and most unique police cars across the globe.
Number 1 – Bugatti Veyron – Dubai
As mentioned, the Bugatti Veyron is the current Guinness World Record holder for the fastest police car ever.
Producing an impressive 1,000BHP with a top speed of 253mph, it held the fastest car in the world monicker for a very long time. Even it’s older borther the Chiron didn’t have a top speed as high as the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.
Unless you are driving a Hennessy Venom or Koenigsegg Agera, you simply aren’t going to escape the Bugatti Veyron police car!
Why Did Dubai Buy A Bugatti Veyron Police Car?
Dubai first issued their Bugatti Veyron on the 15th May 2013 at the cost of around $1.4 million.
Back in 2013 there were viral clips and photos of a Veyron driving about with a Dubai police force livery on it which was fake. However this may have been a pre-cursor to what was coming as not long after the fake images surfaced, the Dubai police made an official reveal. The reveal consisted of the Veyron being driven through very tight streets in Dubai in front of a small crowd.

Number 2 – Porsche 918 Spyder – Dubai
Back in November of 2015, the Dubai police force felt their fleet of supercars wasn’t up to scratch. It was in this month they spent over $1million on a new Porsche 918 spyder.
The flagship supercar from Porsche puts out 874bhp and can sprint from 0-62mph (100kph) in just 2.2 seconds. It certainly wouldn’t struggle to catch up to a speeding motorist, even from a standing start!
Why Did The Dubai Police Get A Porsche 918 Spyder?
Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, who is the Dubai Police Chief, spoke about the Porsche 918. He said due to the 918 being a hybrid, it shows the police forces commitment to a sustainable environment.
Like a lot of Dubai’s supercar police cars, the Porsche 918 is used mainly for patrolling the tourist hotspots around the country. Occasionally they will roll out a supercar or two for promotional duties, but it wont be seen in many high speed chases despite its capability.
However the technologically advance 918 will be linked electronically with the command and control centre of Dubai police. And it will be equipped with all the latest technology including high-tech on-board speed cameras, just incase a chase ensues!

Number 3 – Aston Martin One-77 – Dubai
Despite its very short production run and limited quantities, the Dubai police force have managed to bag one of Aston Martins crazy One-77 cars. With Dubai taking 1 of the 77 that were manufactured, that means only 76 cars were available to purchase.
Why Did Dubai Police Get An Aston Martin One-77?
The Aston Martin One-77 was actually enlisted to the Dubai police a few months before the Veyron, and at the time was the most powerful car in the fleet. The Aston Martin One-77 houses a 7.3-liter V-12 engine creating 750 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque.
Being such a rare car, it is presumed Dubai wouldn’t have purchased one themselves. Rather, this particular Aston Martin was donated to the Dubai Police force by a wealthy group of individuals. If it was purchased by the police force however, it would have set them back $1.79 million.
It was unveiled at the Dubai Trade Center to announce its arrival back in 2013 along with two other supercars. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and the Bentley Continental GT. Combined as a trio, it isn’t a bad lineup of police cars to unveil!
All three cars will be used at tourist hotspots around Dubai to help promote tourism in Dubai itself. Their first combined appearance was at a travel exposition at the Dubai Trade Center. This is slightly different than the usual use of Dubai’s police supercars, which normally appear to promote road safety and the danger of speed.

Number 4 – Lamborghini Huracan – Italy
Let’s move away from Dubai for a moment, although we will return!
The Italians have always been loyal to their home grown marquee, with a few Lamborghini’s serving within their police force. However none to date have been as powerful and as fast as the Lamborghini Huracan.
Lamborghini are very proud that their cars serve the Italian police force. So proud, that they designed a special edition Huracan for the Rome police. Previously the Italian police had a Lamborghini Gallardo, however it has since been retired in favour of this specially designed Huracan.
Why Do Italy Have A Lamborghini Huracan Police Car?
Italy’s official statement says that the Huracan will be used on special assignments including medical emergencies. This includes transporting blood and organs around the city of Rome. When not in use for medical deliveries it will be patrolling the highways with regular police cars. This is one car that you wouldn’t want to enter a high speed chase with!
Unlike the many supercars in Dubai’s ranks, the Italians use their supercars in active duty. And with the speed that the Huracan possesses it is no surprise.
The Huracan boasts a mighty 610 horsepower produced from its naturally aspirated V10 engine. It’s powerplant is powerful enough to push this Italian supercar from 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds, and it can get to a top speed of 201mph.

Number 5 – Ferrari 458 Italia – Italy
Staying in Italy, there is another very notable car manufacturer who are proudly represented in the Italian police force.
The police in Milan didn’t want to be outdone by the police force in Rome and their Lamborghini Huracan. So they decided to introduce their very own Ferrari 458 Italia to their ranks. As of today, it is the only Ferrari 458 police car in the world.
The Ferrari 458 Italia is possibly the best choice for a police car in this list so far. Its combination of impressive handling and a mighty 570bhp from its V8 engine make it a hard car to outrun.
How Did Italy Get A Ferrari 458 Police Car?
However as with many cars on this list it wont ever be used in regular police patrols. This particular Ferrari 458 Spider was confiscated from an Italian Mafia member. Due to the country’s anti-Mafia laws, the government confiscated the Italian supercar. Then rather than selling it at auction they gave it to the Milan Police department.
Now the police in Milan have outfitted the 458 Spider in their green police livery and they regularly use the car to educate children around the city that crime doesn’t pay.

Number 6 – Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 – Dubai
Not to be out done by Italy and their Lamborghini, Dubai have their own Italian supercar. Specifically a Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4.
At the time of arrival it was Lamborghini’s flagship supercar, with a mighty 6.5litre V12 engine producing 691bhp.
It is capable of getting to 62mph in just 2.9 seconds and came at a cost of a whopping $550,000. Although that isn’t anything on the cost of the Bugatti Veyron or Aston Martin One-77 which cost over $1million.
So Why Do Dubai Have A Lamborghini Aventador Police Car?
Dubai introduced their Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 in April 2013. Unlike a lot of Dubai’s police supercars, you will actually find this Aventador patrolling the highways around Dubai.
With a top speed of 217mph, Dubai aim to increase the speed of justice on their highways. With this much power and Dubai’s very strict laws, we can’t imagine many criminals would be willing to get into a high speed chase.

Number 7 – Maserati GranTurismo – Dubai
Dubai’s famous supercar fleet has a new arrival for 2019 in the form of the Maserati GranTurismo.
The Maserati GranTurismo can reach speeds of up to 187mph thanks to its 4.7 litre V8 engine. Although costing over $110,000 it is actually one of the more practical supercars on this list. And it will receive more active patrols when compared to the crazy Lamborghini’s and Bugatti’s.
Why did Dubai Police Buy A Maserati GranTurismo?
The Dubai Police force purchased the 187mph GranTurismo from Al Tayer Motors, which is the official Maserati dealership in the United Arab Emirates.
Major General Al Marri came forward in saying that using supercars such as the Maserati GranTurismo as patrol vehicles is a strategy to increase security presence at popular tourist destinations.
Luitenant Colnol Al Kutbi added to this by confirming that the new Maserati police car will be stationed at various tourist hot spots such as the Burj Khalifa and Jumeirah Beach Residence.

Number 8 – Chevrolet Corvette- United States
Similar to Italy who have stayed loyal to supercars built in their home country, the States have done the same.
Back in the summer of 2011, the New Braunfels Texas Police Department added a highly modified Corvette to their arsenal. This highly modified Z06 Corvette produces over 1,005 horsepower and ended up as a patrol car thanks to a property seizure.
How Did The Texas Police Department Get A Corvette?
The Texas Police Department seized the modified Corvette along with other cars, jewellery and cash which was all valued at over $1 million. The seizures came as a result of a meth raid, which was undertaken by the Drug Enforcement Agency.
After the investigation which followed and everything that was confiscated had been released, the Corvette was given back to the New Braunfels Police Department. At which point they decided to wrap the supercar in their police livery and modified the car into a fully functioning patrol car.
However you wont find the Corvette patrolling the roads any time soon as it has been limited to being a community outreach vehicle. Now this ‘Vette tours the state on PR events and luckily for criminals isn’t on regular patrol.

Number 9 – Ariel Atom – United Kingdom
One of the most unique cars on this list, the Ariel Atom is a true track car.
It is built with an open chassis, and powered by a Honda K24 VTEC engine. The Atom is renowned for its handling ability which would be great on UK B-roads, although probably not so good at restraining a criminal due to the lack of rear seats, or even body panels.
Why Are The UK Police Using An Ariel Atom?
The Ariel Atom 3.5R was provided by Ariel with the intention of “dealing with” the region’s motorcyclists. It was given to the police in Avon and Somerset in the South West of the country as part of a safety campaign.
This safety campaign does however mean that the true force of this police car will never be put to the test. It will only be used to educate the general public on the dangers of speeding. Specifically it will be used to try and get motorcyclists to think about the way they ride.
The only daily duties this police cars undertakes are trips around the UK to various promo events.
Its first public appearance was as part of the Safer Rider campaign, with the Atom appearing at a motorbike awareness and training day in Somerset.
The company director of Ariel, Simon Saunders said “They wanted to promote a message of road safety for bike users ahead of the launch of a new Ariel motorcycle”.
